Job description
We have the opportunity for field surveyors to join our team, working on a casual basis throughout the core survey season, May – October 2024.
This role is entry level and is aimed at those looking to take their first footsteps into a career in ecological consultancy, or even those looking to supplement their income while undertaking their academic studies or other part-time positions.
The role is aimed to be a learning experience, it will be hands-on, getting out into the field to support our ecologists deliver habitat and protected species surveys. We are a small team and a new business, so fully expect to get involved with all aspects of an ecological consultancy.
The role will be home based and on a zero hours basis. Although the work is only available on a casual basis, there is plenty of work available to keep you busy (if you want to be!). There is also no obligation for you, and we will fully take into consideration your needs.
The requirements
As outlined above this is truly an entry level position, there is no specific experience required, we are looking for the right individuals to deliver our vision and values and ultimately help grow as an organisation.
The ideal candidate would have:
- A degree in ecology or related field, or be working towards a degree or higher education qualification, and/or have suitable relevant experience, which could include voluntary or non-professional experience;
- Located in the South East of England
- The ability and willingness to travel and stay away at survey sites in various locations across the UK; and
- Be self-motivated, organised and have good attention to detail.
- A valid (clean) driving licence and vehicle, insured for business use.
- Protected species surveying experience.

- A Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Card;
- Eligible for qualifying level of membership to the charted Institute of Ecological and Environmental Management (CIEEM);
